I love sharing a good grilling hack - especially when it involves a cool product and pizza! People are terrified of grilling pizza dough!

I had the opportunity to try the Grill Mat from Amazon seller Big Time BBQ the last couple of weeks and I have to say this may be a short review. I love these things and it makes for a perfect grilling hack!

The Grill Mat is not a new thing - many of us are familiar with the kitchen variety of non-stick cooking sheets and mats. The main difference is that Big Time BBQ has released an industrial style version that is perfect for home grilling and slow smoking. In fact - the package contains two awesome mats!

Why I Like the Big Time BBQ Grill Mats!

First off - these mats are heavy duty. I tested them over low as well as high heat grills. I even placed one in the oven for about an hour and a half at high temperatures. I placed two bricks on one mat and walked back and forth across the back yard waiting fo the mat to rip. It didn't! This was the "carrying a Boston Butt" test. These things are strong and I love them. And... I've not even gotten to the cooking side of things yet.

So lets talk about PIZZA - well, not yet - let's talk about small stuff. You know, shrimp, chicken bites, catfish nuggets, vegetables, and more. Those items tend to slip through grill grates and also find their way out of grilling baskets. The Big Time BBQ Grill mat offers a flat grilling surface that still allows for the great grilling flavor we crave.

The mats are even good for a variety of other things such as shredded beef, chicken tenders, pork, steaks, burgers, seafood and much more. The juices don't run off, small things don;t fall through grates, and you can even grill stuff like Pizza dough.

Finally - the Grilled Pizza Hack

For years I've been sending people to the grill in order to grill up pizza! I've suggested everything from French bread, pitas, deli flat bread, and even pre-made crusts as a way to get your grilled pizza going. What was lacking was grilling good old fashioned soft pizza crust. You know, the kind of crust that pizza guys toss over their heads and spin.

I've offered a few suggestions about grilling real pizza dough but the questions and concerns about grilling something that could slowly seep through grill grates seemed to freak people out. That's where the Big Time BBQ Grill Mat comes into play! This mat, actually two mats per package, make a great surface for grilling pizza crust. That's a hugh hack! Grilled pizza on the grill using real pizza crust without an expensive pizza stone or specialty pizza oven.

Long story short - don't push aside all of the great crust ideas I've been serving up over the years - but now you can grill up real pizza crusts as well as pancakes, small items, steaks, seafood, vegetables, omlets, and more. Your grill just became a pizza oven and non-stick skillet!

Affordable & the Bottom Line!

I'm really impressed about the versatility that the Big Time BBQ Grill Mats offer up! The most simple thing in the Big Time BBQ Ultimate Grilling Bundle may end up becoming my favorite grilling gadget ever. They are nonstick, seeminly indistructable, easy to clean, and convert a grilling surface to a griddle or skillet like cooking surface. Worried about grilling a few thin and delictae filets of fish on the grill - now you don't have to think twice - toss those piece of fish one the grill mat and start cooking!

The bottom line is that the Big Time BBQ Grill Mats are a great buy and cost about $10 bucks plus affordable shipping - and shipping is even cheaper when you factor in Amazon Prime. I would take a look at the mats as a great addition to your grilling and barbecue toolbox and they seem like pretty cool gifts. You should also consider the Ultimate BBQ Bundle from Big Time BBQ - several amazing products all for under $30 bucks.
